Department of nursing is going to interviewing a new English teacher to take place of your position. This decision was announced to Pro Huang by the chief of personnel office.

I told him that this decision is not following to the rule of hiring a new teacher, the center should ask for further reasons for it.

Please tell the lawyer this message.

通識中心的專案教學人員(原要聘Curtis的位置)聘任申請案, 人室主任通知通識中心主任改由護理系主聘. 因為護理系要開專業護理英文課程, 因為課程時數不多, 還是以 通識中心英文課為主. 由此觀之, 逃避有開課而未續聘原任教師的企圖十分明顯.

ask you to do some further explanation, if you do not answer, they may be not proceeding.

By the way, are you sure that the custom of Taiwan will allow your re- entry while your Visa will be expired in 10 days? For we are not permitted to enter US if the expired date of the Visa is under 6 month.

Dear Curtis:

   In your letter of appeal to the committee of accusation, please remember to include the following essential points:

1. The special planning for teaching in English will be executed in the next year, issue was proposed by the General Education center to the personnel office, Administration at May 23 2007 ( according to the record of the meeting.) Therefore the continuing employment of you was proposed to the deliberation committee of teacher at the college level at June, (where the primary decision of your contract is 6 months instead of one year.) As the Chair of General Edu told you, the proposal sheet of the special planning for teaching in English was kept at the personnel office, you should ask them to provided.

2. The un-employment decision made by the deliberation committee of teacher at the college is against the rule of "Teacher's law(教師法)”. For the employment, unemployment, of teacher should be following this law. (I am sorry I cannot remember the actual point, but I copied the content and put together with the documents that you forgot at my office, you can take it, the TA, Ms Wu will give it to you).

  I strongly suggest that you take the accusation as soon as possible, or the date of you Visa will be expired. The authority of the college should answer in 20 days, if they are in wrong, they should correct it immediately.

Dear Dr. Peng,

  Thank you for the good reminder and advice about my appeal to the school. I will be sure and include these things in the appeal, plus the evidence of my teaching schedule if the lawyer agrees it will be useful. I went to the personnel office yesterday and today for the proposal sheet of the special planning, but Ms. Yang today showed me a copy of some regulations she says don't allow me to see the proposal. I will show the regulations to the lawyer tomorrow and see what he thinks. As I expected, the school does not want me to see the proposal and the truth. I will try to verify what Ms. Yang showed me with the lawyer. In any case, I will report the existence of the teaching position and the false reason that the president gave me for not renewing my contract in my appeal.
  Hoping for a smooth meeting tomorrow with the Gender Equity committee and progress on my contract appeal. Thanks always for all the valuable help and encouragement you've given me Dr. Peng!

  Hi. Just a short message to tell you a couple very recent developments.

  1. Yesterday afternoon NTCN contacted me to tell me they wanted me to attend a meeting about sexual harassment today at 1:30. I talked to the lawyer later yesterday afternoon. On his advice, at today's Gender Equity meeting I only told them that the accusation was not true, I never did any such thing, completely false. I explain to you later more details, but in the end I did not answer their questions and after insisting many times I will only talk about what happened with the lawyer in attendance, they agreed to have another meeting next Friday afternoon with me and the lawyer.
  2. This afternoon I got a cold, brief letter signed by the president telling me NTCN is not going to give me a new contract because my project has ended. However, as I know the project did not end and my position does have funding. The lawyer agreed that the NTCN contract stating they can end my contract any time is against the higher law. Plus, he said the memo with my next year's schedule is strong proof that they were already going to give me a new contract. He said we must keep quiet about this evidence until the time is right to use it.
  3. Since these two events have just happened, I decided not to attend tomorrow's General Education Center meeting. It is no longer necessary to go.

  Will you be in your office on Friday? If so, let me know what time and I'll stop by to see you some time on Friday.

  I will stay at my office after the meeting of the G Edu centre at noon on Friday.

  Since you have got the letter about the contract, and the investigation of the harassment is on the way, it may be  better not to talk about in the meeting tomorrow.

  Please ask to Dr Huang for the project planning form of the English teaching that I mentioned yesterday, that will be the most obvious evidence that the position is still remained, in addition to  the record of the administration meeting of the college at May 23.

  More important than the memo of your next year's schedule of classes!

Of Dead Links & Disappearing Stories

  A few days ago I took some time to check the links I posted on my blog (http://pow3hatan-warrior4justice.blogspot.com/2011/05/news-flash-court-decision-leaked-to.html) to the stories that appeared on various Taiwan media websites following the Taipei District Court's April 21 decision. To my astonishment, 6 of the 7 story links I posted are already dead and the stories have mysteriously disappeared.   What's behind this latest twist in the Taiwan media's pervasively biased, sensationalist and unprofessional coverage against foreigners?

Court Decision Documents Updated

  I have replaced the previously-posted pages of the court decision with better quality files scanned from the original document I received last week. I still haven't found any help yet to translate the decision into English so that next step is still pending. I tried translating some parts re-typed into a Word document, but the Google and other web translations are so mangled that it's very hard to make any sense of them. 

  Meanwhile, coming up I'll be replacing edited versions of some docs already on my blog with unedited ones as well as some other relevant docs of this saga including communication from some of the other key players of this tangled web of lies, deceit, treachery and injustice.

Control Yuan Update Letter

  Last week my Taiwanese friend filed an appeal she wrote to the Taipei District Court. I had advised her not to waste her time appealing as I have no lawyer and the consensus of other Taiwanese I talked to was that it would be a wasted effort after the three-ring circus I've already been subjected to by the court & lawyers, the government, and the nursing university ().
  My friend also got a letter from the Control Yuan on May 30 regarding my complaints filed against the nursing university. I had planned to post it along with the attachment of a document from the Ministry of Education after receive them from my friend. However, when I got a re-typed Word document of the 2 letters last night, she pointed out to me that the Control Yuan letter emphasized that the MOE document  is “confidential”.

  Here is the very short Control Yuan letter with a rough Google translation into English:

  主旨:台端陳訴案.經教育部以”密件”函復到院,茲檢附該部復函(不含附件)影本1份供參考.並請注意相關保密規定.復請查照. [Subject: YOUR impact statements case. by the Ministry of Education as "Confidential " to answer your inquiry to the Control Yuan. It is attached to the Ministry of reply (not including accessories) copy of a copy for reference and note the relevant confidentiality provisions. Complex personal note, please.]

  Basically, my friend’s explanation of the MOE letter indicated the MOE and nursing university continue their tag team tactics of deception, obfuscation and denial, and the Control Yuan continues to show itself to be no more than a paper tiger and possibly worse.
   In addition, the Control Yuan has been telling me for months now that they couldn't do anything regarding my other complaint against the Taipei District Court and judges until the decision. Now, after the decision, they have been telling my friend I really must appeal the decision...meaning a further delay in any movement from the Control Yuan on my complaint. What a bunch of juvenile, muddleheaded nonsense!
